About

Empire Studios is simply about media production - music, web design, images and so on...

The idea and name; Empire Studios, came up during the early 90's as I were in the beginning of creating music and graphics on computers. Today I've done music for numbers of constellations and companies. In the year 2005 I started trying out the creation of websites - starting with the XsavioR site (discontinued in 2009) as my very first!

I was born in 1975 south of Stockholm in Sweden and my born name is Mathias Norberg. Since 2004 I've also been credited as Matt Norberg because we were two members in XsavioR with the same name, Mathias. So we decided that one of us should change to Matt just to avoid confusion. So I did. :o)

My interest in music began at the age of four (if not earlier) and the interest for drums and keyboards (including piano, synthesizers and organ) kept growing over the years and I played whenever I got a chance. That included harassing neighbors who had any kind of keyboard at home.
Computers, mixers - practically everything electronic with buttons - also drew my attention.

The interest in music and electrical gadgets led me to a music studio education at the age of fourteen (being the only student that weren't in music class passing the tests), which made it possible for me to combine my favorite things - music, computers and lots of buttons to push.

At the age of sixteen I started my first band together with Daniel Flores and Johan Niemann, later joined by Fredrik Grünberger. After leaving the band it was renamed Afterglow (now known as Mind's Eye).

After three years of high school/collage I entered a one-year education at the Music Conservatory of Stockholm. While classes were mainly focused on playing keyboard, arranging music and music theory, the studies also included courses in sound engineering.

When I finished school I took of working as a sound engineer, musician and mastering engineer for two record companies, Quadromedia and Pink Honey Records. Since then I've done a lot of work together with sound engineer Mikael Bergström at Six String Studios, recording bunches of demos and albums.

During the last five-six years I've worked full time as a chief computer hardware engineer, technical manager and administrator in a multinational company and part time as a musician and sound engineer, including performing and producing background music for DansCompagniet and the Ballet Academy of Stockholm.
